American Transmission Systems, Inc (ATSI), a FirstEnergy company, is planning upgrades to the transmission line on Forest Rd/Forest Rd Ext. to enhance electric service reliability. The project involves replacing the aging structures and wires you see today with new ones constructed within the existing right-of-way.
During the coronavirus health emergency, FirstEnergy is focused on serving you while putting appropriate protective measures in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Their first priority, as always, is the safety of our workers and customers. Their line workers and field personnel perform almost all of their work outside of homes and businesses, with minimal interaction with customers or the general public. When such interactions are required, appropriate preventive measures like social distancing will be in place to help protect all parties.
Field survey activities are now complete, and construction is set to begin in May. This work will continue for several months on FirstEnergy-owned property and within the existing right-of-way easements. During this time, construction contractors will periodically access the easement and transmission line structures along Forest Rd. Areas disturbed during construction will be restored as soon as practical after construction is completed. They do not anticipate any disruption to your electric service because of this project.
On behalf of FirstEnergy, Burns & McDonnell will provide program management services on the project, Appalachian Field Services, LLC will provide landowner support, and J.W. Didado Electric, an experienced transmission line contractor, will handle construction.
